Chapter Forty-Three - Willow
The next morning my head thumped from staying out so late. After the rogue left, and we received the message from the sketch artist, we had a couple more drinks and headed back to the hotel.
Chase seemed on edge when we left. Interacting with the rogue had him nervous. Nervous that someone would follow us home, or let the pack know we were searching for them. And their fear struck a fear in both of us.
Chase took the Alpha King’s warning to heart. If the one man over our entire region was scared, that meant something.
Chase put a mug of coffee on the nightstand beside my face. “The artist will be here within the hour. Have some coffee and wake up. I need your brain for this.”
I casually sat up, knowing I wouldn't forget that man’s face from yesterday. It was so vivid. So real. It made it hard to believe that I’d forgotten it once in my life. I'd pushed back the one key that could have solved everything.
