Chapter Thirty-One - Willow
When Chase walked back into the dining hall, most of the wolves went back to eating, but I couldn’t look away from him.
I could tell by the look on his face that he had told my father something he didn’t want to hear. Chase slid back into his seat, and his hazel gaze lifted to mine. “He knows you were in his house. Don’t go back over there.”
I had all I needed with the picture. It was enough to go off, at least. I nodded and watched Chase go back to eating. I wanted to pry their conversation out of him, but my wolf could sense his dominance.
He’d told my dad something he needed to hear. He stuck up for me, and it felt like the first time in my life that I trusted someone so thoroughly. If I hadn’t been so sore from my wolf taking Chase every which way for the past three days, I would have dragged him upstairs and had it out.
“Thank you,” I said softly.
Chase looked up again. This time he seemed to sense my emotions. The feeling of being protected, and safe.
