Mrs. Handerson soon knew that Callan had left Zariah behind.
This day, before Callan got off work, Mrs. Handerson called him.
"Callan, what's wrong with you? I know you're busy. However, Zariah is like your little sister. Didn't you have the time to have dinner with her? Since you agreed, how could you leave her there alone?"

"Apologize? When?" Mrs. Handerson continued, "I told Zariah that you would sincerely invite her again today. It's almost time for her to get off work. You don't go to social engagements tonight. Pick her up when it's time. And then have dinner with her. You can't treat her like you did last time! Your Uncle Congreve and your father are old friends.
