Chapter 65: Wedding Ring
Chase strolled into the apartment and caught sight of Eliana lounging at her desk in pajamas, glued to her computer screen.
"You're always nose-deep in work. Are you secretly a robot?" Chase quipped as he kicked off his shoes and ambled over.
Eliana, fingers dancing across the keyboard, shot back, "If I don't hustle, who's gonna take care of my wrinkly self down the line? You've seen my family; if I hit rock bottom, they'll just roll out the red carpet, fireworks and all. Apart from my uncle, who's semi-willing to bail me out, the rest would never lend a hand. And that's no joke."
She had a point. Making bank wasn't just about the present; it was about securing a roof over your head for the future.
Chase watched her, feeling an unexpected twinge of sympathy. The other gals around him, like Eliana's age, were all about designer labels and scouting rich dudes to marry. Just aiming for a cushy life with a loaded hubby.
But Eliana? No matter the grind, she'd always keep that fire burn
