Chapter 1963
Persephone paused. The group of young boys running around, laughing and playing, all seemed about eight or nine years old—undoubtedly the most irritating age group.
However, when they saw her, they blinked their large eyes and smiled. Their crystal-clear gazes eased Persephone's guard.
"Don't chase them away." She turned to the bodyguards. "They're just kids. Why bother about it so much?"
"But..."
"This is a neighborhood, not our own home! Let them play. They'll leave on their own in a while. No need for fuss."
The two bodyguards exchanged looks, nodded helplessly, and turned back to the room.
As Persephone leaned against the railing, she found herself a bit envious of these kids. Seeing them made her reminisce about her childhood. Except, her childhood was never as carefree as theirs.
