Asher's POV
What was I going to say to Vika?
If what Master Rutfus had said was true—that a rebellion in the city was the cause of that tragedy and not Lanem—then that meant Vika's real father, King Magnus, hadn't been killed by assassins.
The history we'd all been taught was a lie, and Master Rutfus taught that false history. Was it all to keep Vika safe and hidden?
My stomach plummeted. I leaned against the nearest wall.
"Argh," I groaned. This was all too much. I'd gotten my answers, but it didn't make me feel any better.
Why had my father lied if assassins hadn't killed King Magnus?
I kept thinking back to my dreams. My father had been in the room with King Magnus and Queen Krisha. He was involved somehow.
Was he directly responsible?
I sighed and kept heading back to my room. My head was going to explode with all this new information.
