Chapter 929
Lisa teased me, "I'm curious about your apparent good fortune. It seems like everything you touch turns to gold. Could you be some sort of modern-day Midas?"
I couldn't help but laugh and jokingly said, "I guess you could say I'm blessed. I've got a guardian angel watching over me. Not only do I always come out on top, but anyone who associates with me seems to get lucky too."
She chimed in, "Really? Then I'll stick close to you. When's your grand opening ceremony? I need to come and bask in your good fortune."
I leaned in, whispering, "Honestly, I didn't want to do it, but Brandon insisted. He's becoming more and more... trivial."
Lisa defended Brandon. "That's not being trivial—that's being ceremonial. I'm rooting for him."
I nodded. "Fine, let's do it. As long as you guys are happy."
"Look at that long face of yours! You're so spoiled by Brandon these days," Lisa chided.
Before leaving, she reminded me not to overexert myself and to schedule my prenatal checkup on time.
