CHAPTER FIVE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY EIGHT – THE CONFRONTATION
As the team began to gather their things, Jasmine noticed Jana hanging back, that same look of calculated innocence on her face. Their eyes met, and for a moment, Jasmine thought she saw a flicker of something cold and triumphant in Jana's gaze. Then it was gone, replaced by a mask of concern.
"Jasmine," Jana said, approaching her. "I just wanted to say how sorry I am about all of this. If there's anything I can do to help smooth things over..."
Jasmine cut her off with a raised hand. "Not now, Jana. We'll discuss this further tomorrow."
Jana nodded, looking appropriately chastened, and left with the others. As the studio emptied, Jasmine remained standing in the center of the room, feeling the weight of responsibility pressing down on her.
