That evening, Jasmine paced her apartment, waiting for Gordon to arrive. When he finally did, looking exhausted and distracted, she launched into a tirade about her day.
"...and then they just walked out! Can you believe it? I've never felt so disrespected in my life!"
Gordon rubbed his eyes, looking overwhelmed. "I'm sorry, Jas. That sounds terrible. But listen, I've got some news about the case-"
"The case," Jasmine interrupted bitterly. "Of course. Because that's all that matters, right?"
Gordon's expression hardened. "That's not fair, Jasmine. You know how important this is."
"And what about what's important to me?" Jasmine shot back. "You missed my exhibition, you're never around when I need to talk, and now you can't even listen to me for five minutes without bringing up your work!"
"I'm trying my best here!" Gordon snapped. "I can't be in two places at once. Maybe if you were a little more understanding-"
