Bo Yan found a little path that led downhill, and he scrambled quickly down, forgetting his pride and dignity, until he reached the bottom of the cliff.
What he saw made him freeze.
Shen Zhiwei had never looked so horrifying to him before.
There she was, bloody and broken, teetering on the edge of consciousness with a baby tightly nestled to her chest. Her eyes were wide and blank; the pupils swimming uncertainly in the whites like the dying flame of a candle still clinging on to its final bit of wick.
Despite the warmth of the sunlight on his head, Bo Yan felt only the frigid coldness of despair.
"SHEN ZHIWEI! Hang on! You and the baby will be at the hospital in no time..."
Bo Yan jerked himself from his brief stupor, breathing and heaving frantically, and he rushed to Shen Zhiwei, carrying her in his arms.
