CHAPTER NINE – WAREHOUSE DUES
The bustling sounds of the warehouse filled the air as Nia Moreno pushed her cleaning cart down the long corridor. The fluorescent lights hummed overhead, casting harsh shadows on the concrete floor. She had just finished mopping the break room and was heading towards the storage areas when a commotion near the main office caught her attention.
"What do you mean it's gone?" Mr. Harlow's voice boomed, echoing through the hallway. "How does an entire shipment just disappear?"
Nia slowed her pace, curiosity piqued. She saw her manager, a portly man with thinning hair and perpetually flushed cheeks, gesticulating wildly as he spoke to two security guards.
"I want every inch of this place searched!" Mr. Harlow demanded. "And get me a list of everyone who had access to that room in the last 48 hours!"
As Nia approached, Mr. Harlow's eyes locked onto her. His expression shifted from anger to suspicion in an instant. "You! Moreno! Come here."
Nia's heart rate quickened as she walked over.
