CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY EIGHT - Following the Money Trail
"Copy that," Nia replied. She approached the side door of the warehouse, trying the handle. To her surprise, it was unlocked.
The interior of the warehouse was pitch black. Nia pulled out a small flashlight, sweeping its beam across the dusty floor. Rows of abandoned shelving units and rusted machinery cast eerie shadows in the dim light.
As Nia made her way deeper into the warehouse, she heard a noise that made her freeze. Footsteps, coming from outside.
"Leon," she whispered urgently. "Someone's here."
"I see them," Leon's tense voice came through the earpiece. "Two men, approaching the main entrance. Get out of sight, now!"
Nia's heart raced as she looked around frantically for a hiding spot. She spotted a stack of old crates in a corner and quickly ducked behind them, switching off her flashlight.
The main door of the warehouse creaked open, and two sets of footsteps echoed through the cavernous space.
