Chapter 5

Perseus opened the door and walked in with a dark expression. The word "gremlin" was akin to a needle piercing his heart. When he turned to look at Vincent, he felt his heart break at the sight of the handprint on the child's cheek. Vincent was just a 6-year-old! How could Danim have the heart to hurt him? "Uncle Perseus? Uncle Perseus, is it really you?" Vincent rushed into Perseus' arms when he spotted him. He was so happy that his cheeks flushed heavily. "Yes, it's me. I'm so sorry for being late." As Perseus caressed Vincent's bloodied cheek, he felt rage burning him alive. Strong bloodlust could be seen rolling in the depths of his eyes. He wanted to kill. No, he needed to kill. Otherwise, how could he ever face Ethan and Olivia, who had entrusted their child to the rest of the Caitfords? How could he ever face Vincent, who admired him with all his heart? Vincent shook his head while doing his best not to cry. "Miss, please take the children out for a walk. I'd like to discuss with the others how to deal with this matter. Is that alright with you?" Perseus led Vincent back to Elena. Elena wanted to tell Perseus to watch out, but she resorted to nodding mutely and ushering the children out of the principal's office. "So, you're that gremlin's uncle, eh?" Danim arrogantly crossed one leg over the other, a cigarette perched between his lips. He shot Perseus a disdainful look before smiling mockingly at him. To him, Perseus' outfit—blue shirt, jeans, and canvas shoes—made him look like a peasant. "Sir, you must be Vincent's guardian," Liana said stonily. "Vincent has been nothing but disobedient at school. He refuses to change his ways no matter how much we discipline him. "He even injured Mr. Rogers' precious son by beating him up. You must compensate Mr. Rogers accordingly. After that, I want you to take Vincent away. Our kindergarten doesn't accept commoners' children, much less scum." Since Liana had chosen to be Danim's lapdog, she played her role well by mocking Perseus on the spot. Perseus closed the door after Elena took the children away. Then, he turned to gaze at Liana impassively. "Do commoners' children have no right to pursue education?" While Danim inadvertently pissed Perseus off, he was more disappointed in Liana than anything else. "Of course! Playtime Academy is a kindergarten meant for rich children only! Poor children were never meant to be allowed into this place. I have no idea why the kindergarten accepted that gremlin as a student! How dare he hit my son!" Danim wasted no time in hurling insults at Perseus. But this time, Perseus didn't intend to let Danim do what he wanted. He rushed over and slapped Danim immediately. Stunned, Danim just cradled his cheek, feeling searing pain flare from it. He was a squad leader of the Firethrone Organization, and he had over 200 goons under his command. Of course, it boosted his reputation greatly. To think that he, a VIP who could do whatever he wanted, got slapped by someone else! "How… How dare you hit me!" Danim snarled out. "Do you even know who I am?" "Which hand did you use to strike my nephew just now?" Perseus couldn't care less about Danim's identity. There wasn't any light in his eyes at all. Now that there weren't any children within the vicinity, he could avenge Vincent however he liked. Danim didn't think that Perseus would do anything to him. He didn't hesitate to punch Perseus in the face. "I hit him with my right hand! What do you—" "Your right hand, huh? Very well!" An eerie smile was etched on Perseus' face as he watched Danim's fist fly toward him. When the fist was two inches away from his face, he gripped Danim's wrist with one hand. Danim's expression faltered instantly. He couldn't move his hand at all because of Perseus' iron grip. "Then I'll be taking this hand of yours!" That was when Perseus made his move. His left hand was still clamped on Danim's wrist, so he crushed it with his right hand. A sudden crack echoed, marking the clean break of Danim's wrist bone. Danim let out a blood-curdling shriek. He sank to his knees almost immediately and started begging for mercy. "Gah! It hurts! Let me go! Please let me go, sir! I'm sorry!" "You're sorry? It's too late for that." A cold glint danced in Perseus' eyes as he moved to grip Danim's fingers this time. He proceeded to twist the latter's hand in three full circles. In the end, Danim's right hand was all limp and mangled. No orthopedist in this world could ever fix the broken hand now. At that moment, Liana rose to her feet while slamming a hand onto her desk. She was bent on siding with Danim no matter what. "Hey! Your nephew has beaten up a classmate at school, and now you're going to do the same to that classmate's father, huh? I'll call the cops on you right now!" Perseus released Danim's hand at that moment. He didn't do it because of Liana's threat; it was just that Danim's hand was already crippled. "There's no need to call the cops!" Danim stopped Liana immediately. He then turned to glare daggers at Perseus. "You're quite skilled, huh? No wonder you're so arrogant, you punk! "Give me ten minutes! I'll fucking kill you after ten minutes, you hear?" "Ten minutes?" Perseus shook his head. "Go ahead and tell your guys to come here. I'll be waiting for you." "You really are ballsy! I'll make sure to kill you swiftly later!" After that, Danim pulled out his phone and began calling his goons. Meanwhile, Liana looked worried. "Are you sure we don't need to call the cops, Mr. Rogers?" "Call the cops? Hmph! If I can't even deal with something as simple as this, I'll be too ashamed to continue dabbling in the underworld!" Danim replied huffily. After that, he placed another phone call. Ten minutes went by very quickly. One could easily use the time to smoke two cigarettes. Someone kicked the door down violently from the outside. A flurry of footsteps could be heard heading toward the principal's office. The leader was a skinny man who strode in while smoking a cigarette. "Mr. Dawson, you're finally here! I got beaten up just now! Look at my hand!" Danim approached Tom immediately before passing him a cigarette. The sight of the crowd outside the office made him feel relieved. He was very certain that Perseus wouldn't be able to escape from his fate now. Danim intended to rip Perseus into shreds on that very day. Tom frowned, thinking that it must be a huge coincidence. After all, he almost got beaten up just now—no, he almost got killed on the spot. "Who here dares to bully my subordinate?" he demanded. "It's that peasant!" Danim pointed at Perseus, who was seated on a chair. The moment Tom saw Perseus, a wave of fear washed over him, causing his legs to give out beneath him. "Mr. Dawson, what are you doing?" Confused, Danim tried to pull Tom up to his feet. "Get down on your knees and admit your mistakes right now!" Tom gritted his teeth furiously. Had he known that Perseus was there, he wouldn't have come over. After Perseus left Firethrone Organization's headquarters, Tom had to send his men to the hospital for treatment. What was worse was that Nolan had died after crashing into the fence earlier. "M-Mr. Dawson…" Fear flashed across Danim's eyes at that moment. Tom wasted no time in slapping Danim. "Everyone, get down on your knees!" With just a wave of his hand, he was able to get more than 20 elite fighters of the Firethrone Organization to kneel before Perseus. Beads of sweat began trickling down Tom's forehead. "I'm sorry, Mr. Perseus!" He groveled to Perseus as he spoke. Mr. Perseus? Danim's heart skipped a beat out of anxiety; he had fucked up big this time. "Tom, he laid a hand on my nephew. That woman, on the other hand, wants to expel my nephew. What do you think I should do?" Perseus thought of it as a huge coincidence for Tom to show up at the kindergarten right after he left Firethrone Organization. Then again, he was very satisfied with how Tom dealt with situations. That man knew when to stand his ground and when to yield. All in all, he was a pretty decent lackey. "Don't worry, Mr. Perseus. I promise I won't let this person appear before you ever again." Tom's brutal side took over right away. He withdrew his dagger as a dark glint danced in his eyes. "Mr. Dawson, I'm sorry! Don't kill me! Please don't kill me!" Danim panicked instantly. "You shouldn't have offended Mr. Perseus." Malice streaked across Tom's expression. "Isn't this punishment a little too light for him?" Perseus cleared his throat before dropping the reminder. "Ah. I got it, sir." Danim was too frightened to speak. He ended up peeing his pants on the spot.
