CHAPTER 126 THE OPPORTUNITY
The Banquet went on as though nothing happened but Lauretta was already tired of it. She tried to put on a smile but it was too much of a shore to do so she stopped.
Stanley returned with a glass of cherry.
"Thank you," Lauretta said, accepting it. She gulped it down in a go. Damn, she needed it badly.
"Slowdown will you," Stanley said with laughter in her voice.
Lauretta just looked at him wide-eyed. She felt she would be needing at least three of those glasses before they would finally leave the party.
"So, I heard you gave Carol a slap earlier. Must've been building up for a while, huh?"
That again.
"It just sort of happened." She said with a shrug.
"Uh-huh"
Stanley led her for a walk which she readily agreed to. Lauretta spoke up only after Stanley had walked away a bit, giving them some privacy. She pondered for a moment. Truth be told, the slap wasn't something she had been holding onto for too long.
