"I can't believe there are times when you regret your actions."

Tyler gloated. He wanted to continue, but the call had ended. Jacob had hung up.

"Why is he so petty…"

Tyler glanced at the phone. He had gotten used to Jacob hanging up his calls. He seemed to have thought of something as he chuckled. "Jacob, you have such a day, too."

After hanging up the call, Jacob massaged his forehead. He had a headache. Nonetheless, he got up and walked toward the lounge.

Simon was waiting outside the lounge. When he saw Jacob, he hurried over. "Mr. Blake, Ms. Barnes has left."

Upon hearing that, Jacob frowned. "Why did you let her leave?"

Simon felt his hair stand on end. He quickly explained, "I wanted to order food for Ms. Barnes, but she insisted that she would leave after taking the medicine since she had eaten just now in your office.

"I couldn't persuade her. But you don't need to worry

Looking at Nicole, Sue probed, "Actually, there are some people who understand some things after the relationship changes. Perhaps he really does regret—"

"He knows to turn when the car is about to hit the tree. If he really did regret it, why did he do all that?"

Nicole's voice was indifferent. "Because of the fever today, I said too many things that shouldn't be said."

She covered her face. Upon thinking about what she said that day, she felt embarrassed. "If I had known things would turn out this way, I shouldn't have been in a hurry to discuss the collaboration with him."

Sue hugged her and comforted her, "Your fever is the priority. Don't think about the other stuff. When you officially get a divorce, I'll bring you around the country to look for handsome men!"

Nicole laughed. Her mood improved. "I'll trouble you to pay for everything then."

An invisible hand seemed to have grabbed Jacob's heart. When Nicole asked that question, his body became cold.

Jacob didn't answer, but Nicole didn't mind it. She continued, "Back then, you married me because you couldn't go against your grandmother's wishes. 

"After you married me, you blamed me for everything because of your reluctance. If you're so courageous, why didn't you reject your grandmother's request?"

Jacob stood still in silence. In the past, he married Nicole because he didn't want to go against his grandmother's wishes. He despised the marriage.

He thought that she didn't agree to divorce because of the Blake family's assets. He never considered her feelings.

In Jacob's world, there was nothing more important than work, including marriage.

After suffering for a long time, Nicole realized that she was exhausted. Why would a superior person who lived a comfortable life like Jacob care about an average person like her?

Nicole wondered if she had lost her mind because of the fever. Why was she arguing these useless things with Jacob?

After regaining her composure, she grabbed the purse on the couch. "I don't think we should discuss work right now. I'll be taking my leave now. Please go through the design collaboration project thoroughly."

Nicole turned around. She felt dizzy. Then, everything before her eyes became dark. She almost fell to the ground, but a strong arm wrapped around her waist. She saw a shadow in front of her.

Jacob touched her forehead with his cold hand. Then, he said in a low voice, "Why didn't you tell me you're having a fever?"

Nicole wanted to fling Jacob's hand away, but he carried her. "Jacob…"

With Nicole in his arms, Jacob opened the door with a cold expression.

Outside the door, Simon jumped from his seat when he saw Jacob carrying Nicole. He blinked his eyes quickly, trying to figure out the situation.

"M-Mr. Blake…"

"Get Gordon to the lounge in ten minutes."

Without waiting for Simon's answer, Jacob carried Nicole to the lounge.

After Jacob had left the office, there was a commotion.

"Did I see things wrongly? Is Mr. Blake carrying a woman?"

"Are you blind? Isn't that Mrs. Blake? During the annual meeting last year, we met her several times. Don't you remember?"

"Mrs. Blake? Didn't they get a divorce? What's going on…"

When Simon, who was following Jacob, heard the discussion in the office, his expression darkened.

Nicole had a high fever. When Jacob put her down on the couch, she didn't even have the energy to sit up.

Jacob pressed her down. Without letting room for rejection, he said, "Your forehead is burning. Be still!"

As Nicole still had a fever, she was a bit angry. "Even if I die, I don't need your care!"

"I can't let you die in my company."

Then, the door was pushed open.

"Mr. Blake, Dr. Waters is here!"

Wearing his own clothes, Gordon held a bag of medicine in his hand. "I'm on leave today. Are you going to occupy my personal time, too?"

Jacob glanced at him. "Shut it."

"Sorry."

Gordon shrugged. He walked over to take a look at Nicole. "She has a normal fever. She just needs to take some medicine. Why did you call me over?"

"I bought some fever medicine on the way here." He put the medicine on the table in the lounge. "Take the medicine after eating something. The fever will be gone in two days."

Gordon turned his head and said to Jacob, "Having a fever is normal. When you called and asked me to get to the company in ten minutes, I thought something huge happened to your wife."

If Nicole hadn't had a fever, she would have given him a thumbs-up.

Gordon was like Tyler. The two were Jacob's only friends in Ashgard City.

The Waters family and the Blake family were wealthy. Gordon and Tyler have known each other since they were young.

The Waters family was the biggest international trade company in Ashgard City. Gordon should be taking over the company, but as he studied medicine, he didn't want to take over his family's business. In the end, his sister, who was still in university, handled everything.

After Gordon left, Jacob returned to his office. He picked up the draft Nicole brought and wanted to take a closer look at it.

Then, he received a call from Tyler. Once Jacob picked up the call, a mocking voice spoke. "Jacob, I heard that your company is collaborating with the studio where your ex-wife is working?"

In the past, when Jacob heard the word "ex-wife," he would be unmoved. Now, he found it unpleasant.

Coldly, he said, "We didn't even get the divorce certificates. I don't have an ex-wife."

From the other end of the line, Tyler's mouth twitched. "I should have recorded what you said in Luminous Lounge for you to hear. You admitted that she's your ex-wife…"
