I walked into my room, my flip-flops barely making a sound, and picked up my phone to dial Luke, my assistant.
He picked up at the third ring.
"Luke, I need you to find a computer expert. Someone who can put a tracker on my mother's phone," I said as soon as he answered, my voice sharper than I intended.
There was a brief pause before he responded, his tone cautious. "Is everything okay, Miss Minerva?"
"No, it isn't." Just do it, please," I snapped, then softened. "I'm sorry, Luke. It's important."
"I'll get on it right away," he assured me before hanging up.
I paced the room, my mind racing with possibilities. My mother, Eleanor, had been acting suspiciously for days, vanishing without explanation. She had yet to tell my father about the island she was visiting, let alone a name.
A soft knock on the door broke my thoughts. Meredith stepped in; her long, dark hair cascaded over her shoulders.
"When did you arrive?". I asked her,
"Not long ago, she replied.
