I couldn't believe my own eyes. Staring back at me, my face was twisted with a malicious smirk. Gaius, wearing my skin like a well-fitted glove, prowled the driveway with an arrogance that made my stomach churn. I had to get away. I had to avoid detection.
My current form, the frail and lean body of an older man, was no match for Gaius. I slunk back into the undergrowth, my heart pounding with a mixture of fear and anger. Minerva was waiting for me in the car. I couldn't let him see me like this.
So, I ran before he would come close to the parking lot.
With the hope of remaining unseen, I returned to the forest.
