Chapter 127: A Heart That Cares
Eleanor rubbed her temples, the familiar ache of tension building. Two days had passed since she had caught Levi standing on the edge of the building, his knuckles white as he clutched the cold railing, staring down at the abyss below. The memory of that moment sent a shiver down her spine.
She glanced over at Levi, who was seated at the kitchen table. His green eyes, once so piercing, now held a blank, distant look. The doctor had said he was depressed and would need stress relief.
She sighed, walking over to the counter where breakfast was laid out. The smell of eggs and toast wafted through the room. She had made breakfast herself today, something she had stubbornly refused to do since she came.
"Why’d you do it?" Levi’s voice was raspy as if he hadn’t used it much recently. His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he swallowed, his brow furrowed in confusion. "You refused to cook any time I ask you to."
