“You've made a mess, Ezra. And once again, I'm stuck cleaning up after you!”
“I'm sorry, Dad,” Ezra muttered. “I really didn't think this would go so wrong.”
Wilson's eyes bore into his son's soul, his voice cold and menacing. "You're so lucky I was able to find a desperate woman like Sophia to take the fall for your incompetence! If it weren't for me and her, you'd be the one facing the consequences."
Ezra nodded as he looked away. “I know, Father, and I'm truly sorry. It was those dang security cameras…plus the video from that bar.”
“Your sorry isn't enough,” his father continued, his voice unwavering. “You've put our entire plan on sinking sand.” He paused, then breathed out a sigh as he cast a look around the hallway. “I've managed to put a bandage on things, but we do not have time.”
Ezra looked down, shame and guilt washing over him.
“Levi is going to make a public apology tomorrow, so that's that. But from now on, do exactly as I say.”
