“It's nothing,” Henry murmured.
He waited a long moment before softly whispering in her ear, “Thank you.”
Henry had long since ceased his suspicions; Nathan was the brother he had doted on from childhood, incapable of the accusations against him.
But his real worry was something else. He feared that Giselle might grow to resent their child, just as she had begun to resent him.
Yet, moments ago, when she said, “He is very precious to me,” relief washed over him. She valued their child.
Lost in his thoughts, laughter escaped him.
Giselle couldn’t take it any longer, shoving him away. “Henry, you’re insane—laughing like an idiot.”
“If I’m an idiot, what does that make you? Mrs. Idiot,” he chuckled back.
Rubbing her arms, goosebumps all over, Giselle quickly retreated to her hospital room, eager for a deep sleep.
After two days in the hospital, Giselle was ready to leave, her thoughts with her grandmother in Italy.
