Elaine perused the store, searching for a more fitting color. Suddenly, Pansy appeared quietly beside her, a hint of shyness in her expression as she glanced toward the soldier standing at the entrance.
"He looks rather handsome, don't you think?" Pansy whispered in Elaine's ear.
Elaine appraised the soldier, named Certi, who boasted a head of curly blond hair and sparkling eyes beneath slender brows.
Though he seemed somewhat bashful, he cautiously surveyed the crowd around him. Whenever he caught Pansy's gaze, he would swiftly dart his attention elsewhere.
Despite feeling reassured by the presence of someone to protect her, Elaine couldn't shake a lingering sense of unease. Two warily watchful men loomed behind her, and she disliked the unwanted attention they drew.
