Chapter 46 Agreeing to the Divorce
Aaron was all too familiar with my vulnerabilities.
I never wanted to be a burden to anyone, just as our marriage had been forged by a peace treaty. I had worried that he might resent me because of that treaty, that he could never be with the one he truly loved because of it.
Yet, within just one year of our marriage, he had become like a doting husband to me. During that time, I had naively allowed myself to believe that he might have fallen in love with me. Regrettably, subsequent events shattered that illusion.
"Shaun hasn't done anything wrong!" I exclaimed.
I realized that Shaun would always be a trigger between us. Aaron's wild nature emerged fully whenever Shaun's name was mentioned.
"I've regretted it since I met you," Aaron grasped the back of my head and whispered in my ear, "Don't push me. I'm sure you don't want things to turn ugly, do you?"
