"Any idea why she locked herself in the abandoned storage room?"
"That was stupid."
"She seems smart enough, but her brain isn't all that impressive."
"I agree."
Bella had just woken up when she overheard Dominic and Ian talking, and she distinctly heard Dominic call her stupid.
Her head was still a little dizzy, and her eyelids felt heavy, but her mind was clear, and her hearing was sharp. The familiar smell of disinfectant filled the air. She was in the hospital and had been saved.
She breathed a sigh of relief, and Ian noticed immediately. "Oh, you're awake. Come on, let me take a look."
Bella opened her eyes and slapped away Ian's hand. "I'm fine. I'm really fine."
Ian struggled to stifle his laughter. "You heard what we said, right? It's the truth. Come on, tell us, how did you manage to lock yourself in there? If Dominic hadn't come home and noticed you were missing, or if he'd stayed late at work and returned later, you'd be dead."
