Chapter Nine - Ava
She wouldn’t stop calling. I knew I had to tell Charlotte the truth sooner or later. She was most likely freaking out thinking I’d been mugged or killed. I'd never ignored her call this long, even when we were angry with one another.
I screwed my eyes closed, imagining how the conversation would go, and none of the potential outcomes were good. All of them ended in a huge fight or losing my twin sister's trust forever.
“What have you done, Ava?” I mumbled to myself.
Standing up, I put my phone on the bed I’d been sitting on and walked toward the hallway. I’d been sitting there for the past thirty minutes not knowing what to do with myself. What did someone do in a house that rivaled something off MTV Cribs?
Lucinda was in the kitchen when I stepped through the doorjamb. She glanced over her shoulder. “Are you ready to eat, dear? Fletcher normally grabs something before he leaves, but I guess he was busy this morning.”
