Emma's eyebrows knitted with worry, her gaze fixed on Amelia's still form, "Do you think she will wake up anytime soon?"
Samantha turned her head to glare at Emma, "How am I supposed to know? Do I look psychic to you?" She snapped.
Emma flinched, "I didn't mean to annoy you."
Samantha sighed, regretting her sharp tone. "I know, Em. I'm just on edge right now. This whole situation is bizarre."
They sat in silence for a moment, the only sound being the soft whirring of a nearby fan. Samantha eventually broke the silence, her voice softer this time. "I'm sorry, Emma. I shouldn't have snapped at you."
"It's okay." Emma offered a reassuring smile.
Samantha nodded in appreciation. Then she leaned in closer to Amelia, studying her face carefully. "Who do you think she is? And what happened to her out there?"
Emma shook her head, equally perplexed. "I have no idea, but she looks like she's been through hell."
