"What do you mean?" Adler asked calmly.
"No one knows whether tomorrow or an accident will come first. If I accept Miss Alexandra's IOU and then she suddenly disappears, who should I ask for compensation? So, I don't need an IOU; I just need the money."
Alexandra tugged at Freiherr's arm, looking worried. "What should we do, Freiherr?"
Freiherr wasn't keen on dealing with her.
Alexandra then turned to Calantha for help, but Calantha didn't even look at her.
"Freiherr..." Alexandra began to cry harder.
Freiherr couldn't stand seeing Alexandra cry, so he reluctantly said, "Okay, I'll cover this money for Lousa."
Calantha chimed in, "You better pay up quickly, Mr. Freiherr. Mr. Adler doesn't have all day to wait for you."
Freiherr shot Calantha an angry look. If it weren't for her and Adler teaming up, he wouldn't have had to compensate over and over again.
He thought back to the first time he had to compensate for the vase Calantha and Adler were dining at the restaurant.
