"Beth, my wedding's coming up, and I've got so much on my plate tomorrow," Jenny said, on the verge of tears. "Please, cut me some slack."
Bethany sighed. "I just don't think I should go."
"So, you're skipping out and leaving Ely with Trystan? You good with that?" Jenny asked.
"Definitely not," Bethany replied without hesitation.
The last time Elysia got hurt at the zoo had freaked her out. She wasn't about to relive that.
"Then, just go and stop stressing," Jenny reassured her. "Like Ely said, if you don't like him, just pretend he's invisible. He's not the type to push himself on you, anyway."
"Fine," Bethany said with a long sigh, realizing she was going whether she wanted to or not.

The next day, Bethany packed up and took off with Elysia. Right when they were leaving their neighborhood, her phone rang—it was Trystan.
"I see you. Stay put with Ely. Ash and I will come get you."
Before Bethany could stop him, he had already hung up.
