"Ms. Reyes." The nurse said gently. "If you can't stand it, tell me."
"I'm… I'm fine," Bethany answered with difficulty.
She was as pale as a ghost, and her eyes flicked over to the person outside from time to time.
It was Trystan.
She didn't know why he had come. Perhaps it really was a hallucination.
Bethany clenched her teeth hard. The person outside was as indifferent as always, and somehow, she felt like her pain had reduced.
Trystan had always been her medicine. He was both the medicine that soothed her and the poison that hurt her.
She thought back to all the years she had loved him. There had been so many times when the pain had been much greater than what she was currently going through.

When she woke up again, she was in a hospital room.
