"Who are you calling?" Nate asked as he came out of the bank.
"Jen," Bethany replied, then frowned. "Strange. Why isn't she answering?"
Nate's eyes flickered nervously. "She's probably having a great chat with Mr. Tomlinson. Why don't we walk around and give them some space? I know you don't like Keith, and neither do I. But I have to butter him up for the local people's interests."
"We should head back," Bethany said, picking up her pace. Jenny's continued silence had her on edge.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" Nate called after her. "If she's not picking up, she doesn't want to be disturbed."
Bethany turned to face him with a stern look.
Nate shook his head. "You're still a kid. You don't understand Jen's mindset. She's just like her mom."
