Chapter 173
The next morning, Bethany grabbed her phone from the living room, only to find several missed calls and dozens of texts from Tina.
Ever since Jenny learned of Bethany's pregnancy, she had forbidden the latter from scrolling her phone at night. She even made it a point to silence Bethany's phone and leave it in the living room.
Bethany hadn't contacted Tina after she discovered their relationship. What was the point when they couldn't openly acknowledge each other as mother and daughter?
With that in mind, Bethany quickly read the texts from Tina.
"Hi, Beth, I heard you caught the stomach flu. How are you feeling now?" Tina asked in her first text.
"Beth, take good care of yourself. I hear small portions of oatmeal are good for the stomach," one text read.
This was followed by: "I'm sorry for what happened, Beth. I wish it weren't this way, but Megan is our daughter, and we have no choice."
Tears sprang to Bethany's eyes and fell down her cheeks as she read the last text.
