Helen frowned as she noticed Bethany holding back from speaking. "I'm going inside if you've got nothing to say. Marlon's class is almost over."
"Wait up!" Bethany reached for her arm.
Helen's expression soured. "What is it, exactly?"
"Can we talk somewhere private?" Bethany's voice dropped to a whisper.
Helen seemed reluctant, so Bethany quickly added, "Just over there. Trust me, it's important."
After a moment of hesitation, Helen stepped aside, and Bethany followed quickly.
Bethany still wasn't sure how to bring it up. Any mother would lose it if she found out something like that had happened to her child.
She glanced at Helen, feeling unsure, her words caught in her throat.
"What's the problem with you?" Helen asked, sounding impatient. "Are you going to say something, or not? I really need to get going. Marlon's class is almost done."
