Chapter 13 The Trap
Caitlyn's POV
After Talon left, he was constantly on my mind. Even when I went shopping with Leona, it always felt like there were eyes peering at me from the shadows.
"Caitlyn, how did it go? Talon wasn't as bad as you thought, was he?" Leona's face beamed, and her tone carried a hint of braggadocio.
"Well, it was okay. He mentioned he could get me out of here," I responded to Leona somewhat perfunctorily, my attention occasionally flickering to the dark corners around me.
"Cool! That sounds like something he would do. So manly, no less." I expected Leona to feel a bit sad upon hearing my response, but I didn't realize that she seemed indifferent to the news of my potential departure, which left me feeling a bit lost.
"And then what happened?" Leona walked to the front of a jewelry store, then turned her head to look at me with curiosity.
"Then my father got into a fight with him..." I muttered in a low voice.
"Oh my god! Your father?!" Leona exclaimed incredulously, h
