“We thought you were dead.” Laura and her team were assembled in Mariama’s office, with their heads bowed. On a normal circumstance, she wouldn’t be subjected to queries, rather, she would be honored for keeping the business going all the while Mariama was away, but the reverse is the case here. “Without proper investigation, aunt.” Mariama was going through a few files on the table in the huge office that used to belong to Laura. “No, we did the best we could.” Said Laura. “We hired the best search parties and they did their best to find you, but you were no where to be found for three whole years.” Mariama looked up to her and blinked twice. Three years, was that her reason for sampling the carcass that isn’t hers just to convince top officials and stakeholders that Lady Light is dead. She shut the files and rested on the seat which offered more comfort than anticipated. “Doing your best to convince your folks that I’m dead isn’t my problem, aunt.” Mariama rubbed her palms. “Th
