Chapter 98 - Halfling Dreams
As Aryana's uneasiness increased, she tossed and turned in bed, the silk sheets twisting about her legs. She was further unnerved by the weird shadows that appeared to dance around the room as the moonlight streamed through the window, their patterns changing.
Unable to fall asleep peacefully, her mind raced. The rustle of the curtains as the breeze blew through the open windows, the distant echo of footsteps, the creak of the wooden floor, all the sounds seemed magnified in the house.
As she turned over on her side, she noticed the white curtains flapping in the breeze. Despite being chilly against her skin, the air that crept in through the windows had an odd uneasiness.
