With his back against the wall, Ramin lay on the chilly stone floor of the dungeon, surveying the small, dim cell. When he moved, the faint clink of his shackles served as a stark reminder of the situation he had found himself in.
He chuckled wryly and went for the little cup of water next to him, enjoying the last of the liquid on his parched lips. Jasmine occasionally managed to smuggle in more when she came, but the guards only gave him one cup a day, hardly enough to satisfy his thirst, for that modest act of goodwill, he owed her.
