Aryana's wide-open eyes floated toward the ceiling as she lay in bed. Unsettling shadows appeared to dance across the room as the moonlight's gentle warmth seeped through the window.
Her mind was racing, but her chest was slowly rising and falling. Her gaze returned to the window as she turned to her side. The memory of the dream, the terrible one that had started exactly beside that window, sent a shiver down her spine.
She shivered as the pictures came back to her. The dark figure standing in the corner of the chamber, its eyes shining with ill intent, and the chilly wind that had blown the curtains.
The dream had seemed so vivid, so genuine. The sound of the figure's voice hissing her name could still be heard in the background.
Squeezing her eyes shut, she attempted to ignore the recollection, but the fear persisted, enveloping her like a thick mist.
