In an instant, the crowd started murmuring, and I could feel countless eyes scanning me from head to toe. I had no choice but to step aside and give the man room.
Sheree was still in a daze, completely unaware of what was going on.
Seeing the doctor approach, she quickly moved aside. "Doctor, please check on her! We turned around and just found her lying there."
I kept my gaze locked on the man. Not for a second did I let him out of my sight.
Only Sheree and I could see what he was doing from this angle. He crouched down with one foot behind him and reached his large hand toward the woman's fragile neck.
"What are you doing?" I shouted.
"Checking if she's dead," he replied, his voice eerily calm.
The piercing sound of the siren filled the air, signaling the arrival of the ambulance.
Thank God we weren't far from the hospital.
The man's demeanor shifted slightly, the pressure around him easing. I noticed a glint of something silver near his sleeve.
