I nodded, committing every word to memory as Lily followed the nurse who was wheeling Darren out.
Worried, I glanced at Donn, forcing a smile that felt more painful than tears.
He sighed softly, "Can you take me for a walk?"
The hospital hallway was eerily quiet, nearly devoid of any movement. We stood side by side, waiting for the elevator.
In all my memories, Donn had never lost his temper, let alone gotten physical with anyone. Seeing him act out today with Darren was truly shocking.
Through the reflective glass, I noticed his disheveled appearance. His tie was askew. I reached out to straighten it, and when he looked at me, all I could see in his eyes was guilt.
