The phone screen was broken. Except for making emergency and police calls, it was completely useless. I sighed as I looked outside the hospital, unsure of how to get home.
"Cassie." Instinctively, I turned around and saw Donn hurriedly walking toward me.
He grabbed my hand, somewhat frowning. For a moment, I could see concern and worry in his eyes.
Donn then pulled me along to get my wounds treated. He took out a wet wipe from his pocket to clean the mud off my face.
I must have looked like a mess—my clothes were torn, my face swollen from Lily's slap, and there were dark red stains of blood in the cracks of my nails.
He told me Franklin was his friend. It was no wonder he got the news so quickly.
After treating my wounds, Donn knelt down and tied the shoelaces that had come undone.
He took off my blood-stained coat, draped me in his clean jacket, and gently held me. He then also told me it was okay to cry.
