I vented my frustration, “He bankrupted my family! My parents were so devastated that their health declined.”
Brunel’s frown deepened. “When did this happen? Why didn’t I know about it? This isn’t something that could happen quietly.”
I hung my head and made a shushing gesture, whispering, “I’m telling you, it happened in a past life.”
