After that, Zane and Reina went on their merry way.
“Don't think too much about it.” Valak whispered.
“What?” I asked.
“I saw the heartbroken expression on your face when she didn't let you touch the child.”
I shrugged. “She's her mother; I would have done the same if I were in her shoes.”
"No, you would not. You give everyone a chance to rectify their mistakes.” Valak said.
“There's no use talking about it now. The child is fine, the pack is happy, and so am I.” I whispered and walked away.
When I got to our bedroom, I closed the door gently and leaned against it.
My tears stung my eyes as I fought to hold them back.
“I've never felt so useless in my entire life.” I whispered to myself.
With a sigh, I pulled away from the door and climbed onto the bed.
Seconds later, Valak walked in, discarding his clothes until he was only left in his brief.
He climbed the bed and crawled towards me, pulling off my dress as well and holding me tight till we both fell asleep.
