Chapter 11

Joseph was scrutinizing Samantha. She glared at him with displeasure. She sounded anxious as she expressed her disapproval. "Joseph, what do you think you are doing?" She wondered why she hadn't noticed that he liked to take his anger out on others. Her words sparked his anger again just as he was about to calm down. "What do I want to do? We aren't divorced yet, and you are here having a meal with this boy toy. This meal alone costs 3,000 to 4,000 dollars. Do you think you can afford it with your monthly salary of around 5,000 dollars? In other words, you are treating him to a meal with my money, right?" Joseph's words were full of insult. For the first time ever, Samantha felt that she was wrong about Joseph when she fell for him. She sneered. "Since we got married, all you ever gave to me was a black card. The card has always been in the drawer of your desk in the study. I haven't touched it. "I remember that card is linked to your number. As long as there's a transaction, you will be notified. If you don't believe me, you can call Xavier right now and have him check the balance and the transaction record." Samantha paused and looked at Joseph coldly as if staring at a stranger. "If Xavier confirms that I haven't spent your money, let's get a divorce this afternoon." Initially, Joseph felt a bit guilty toward Samantha. However, he couldn't control his temper when he heard her mentioning the divorce. "Do you want a divorce that badly so you can be with this boy toy after we are divorced? Let me tell you this—as long as I'm alive, I won't agree to the divorce." Upon hearing this, Erica's eyes widened. She nervously held Joseph's hand and instinctively tightened her grip. She thought if Joseph didn't divorce Samantha, then she couldn't be with him. "Joe, since Samantha has made up her mind, we shouldn't force her. After all, you can't make someone love you." Erica leaned against Joseph as she persuaded him. Joseph's temples throbbed, and his voice sounded indifferent. "Erica, this is none of your business." Seeing Erica mention something reasonable, Samantha couldn't help but agree. "Joseph, I think Erica is right. Back then, you seemed unwilling to marry me. Now that I have finally come to terms with it and want to let you go, you should just agree. Dragging this out won't do anything good for us." Joseph gritted the words out. "I don't mind being stuck in this situation." Samantha was at a loss for words. Seeing Joseph's stubborn attitude, she didn't bother to argue with him. After checking Ronaldo to ensure he wasn't injured, Samantha pulled him back to his seat. "That scared you, didn't it? I'm sorry. It's my fault for getting you involved." Ronaldo waved his hand. "Samantha, it's not your fault." As soon as he was done speaking, Mina approached them. The moment she saw Joseph and Erica, her expression changed instantly. She couldn't help but complain. "I feel really unlucky to see you two everywhere." Mina's voice was neither too loud nor too soft. Joseph and Erica could hear her clearly. Surprisingly, Joseph wasn't angry. Instead, he put on a fake smile and suggested, "Ms. Goldsmith, why don't we share a table? There are still some empty seats here." Upon hearing this, Erica moved her lips before she reluctantly said, "Joe, there are plenty of empty seats here. We don't need to sit with Samantha and her friends. It would be impolite to disturb them." While saying this, Erica's gaze darted between Samantha and Ronaldo, making her intentions obvious. Mina rolled her eyes. "Erica, Sam isn't close to you. Why are you addressing her as Samantha instead of Ms. Wyatt? "I saw how arrogant you were in the luxury store earlier. Now, you are acting all weak and helpless. With such outstanding acting skills, it's a shame that you are not an actress," Mina mocked mercilessly. Everyone knew their relationship wasn't good. Even with Joseph present, there was nothing he could do to her. Erica looked at Joseph pitifully. She sounded like she was on the verge of tears as she asked, "Joe, did you see that?" Joseph frowned slightly after he heard that and comforted Erica half-heartedly, "That's just how she is. Don't take it to heart." At that moment, the waiter brought over the food that Mina had ordered, carefully placing it on the table. Joseph took the opportunity to stand up and said to the waiter, "We will share a table with them and have the same dishes they ordered." As soon as he was done talking, he unwittingly sat next to Samantha. Meanwhile, Erica sat next to Ronaldo. Samantha and Mina were rendered speechless as they pursed their lips. Samantha glanced at Joseph with annoyance. Then, she pretended to be calm as she picked up her knife and fork to cut her steak. After cutting it, she picked the steak up, wanting to place it in front of Ronaldo. She said, "I was worried you might not know how to cut it, so I did it for you in advance. The steak here is pretty good. Give it a try." As she spoke, Samantha felt someone bump her elbow, causing the whole plate of steak to fall to the ground. Samantha looked at the culprit with displeasure. "Joseph, are you looking for trouble?" Joseph smirked and said casually, "I'm sorry. It wasn't on purpose. I can order another one for you. How about that?" Samantha snorted and waved her hand. "No. I will order it myself. I don't want you to accuse me of spending your money." As soon as she said that, the atmosphere between them turned tense. "Samantha, I appreciate the gesture. I'll cut the steak myself." Ronaldo awkwardly picked up the knife and fork, trying to cut the steak. Upon seeing the situation, Mina stood up and moved next to Ronaldo to help him cut the steak. Samantha and Mina exchanged glances. "The steak that fell on the ground can't be eaten anymore. I will order another one." As Samantha spoke, she walked past Joseph and headed to the kitchen. Erica quickly followed her. "Joe, I will check on the status of our dishes."
