”What’s on your mind?” Helena asked.
“I visited Grandma today. She’s not doing well after Brandy and Judy sent her over the edge. She’s still resting in the hospital. I’m thinking about how likely I’ll expose myself if I signed for Grandma’s surgery.”
Julianna knew of Elvis's relentless search for her over the past few years, and their meeting two days ago added to her concerns. She could be exposed if Elvis discovered her whereabouts. However, her grandmother's condition could worsen without the surgery.
Despite these worries, Julianna made a resolute decision—the surgery would proceed, but she needed to ensure it happened without revealing her true identity.
“You can’t depend on your father. I heard that he didn’t even pay a single visit to your grandma since she was hospitalized. He’d only make her more upset anyway. You'll have to tread carefully. I own a hospital, and you can arrange for your grandmother's surgery there."
