Julianna did not bring any trouble to the Gill family, yet they blamed her mother. No matter what, Margaret was a good mother to Julianna.
“If I were my mother, I’d be ashamed to have a sister like you. You defend others, but not your own family? What gives you the right to call yourself a member of the family? Nobody would sit by and do nothing if their family was being mistreated."
Rebecca was about to respond when Mrs. Gill abruptly cut her off. Mrs. Gill had no intention of speaking out, but Rebecca would not understand otherwise.
