Wyatt’s words provoked Julian, causing him to become more aggressive. But Julian was no match for Wyatt. At this moment, Chloe finally came to her senses. Trembling, she stood up and grabbed Wyatt's arm.
"Wyatt, let's leave. I’m sorry you had to see me like this."
She didn't want Wyatt to witness this awful side of her. She had worked so hard to rebuild her life, but her past, like a relentless demon, kept pulling her back, making it impossible to break free.
Wyatt kept a cautious eye on Julian but turned to Chloe with a calming expression. "Do you want to call the police?"
Chloe glanced at Julian and shook her head. "No, let’s just leave."
Wyatt respected her choice. If she didn’t want to involve the police, he wouldn’t push it. He released Julian and gave him a hard shove into the bookshelf.
Julian hit the bookshelf with such force that his face twisted in pain. Chloe asked Wyatt, "Can you help carry these things? I don’t have any strength left."
