Chapter 12
The crash site was at the edge of a cliff near Southridge. Freddy spent the entire night searching the bottom of that cliff.
By dawn, there was still no sign of life. He could only find the wreckage of the Hamilton family's private jet.
Alvin couldn't hold back any longer.
"Mr. Hoffman, Ms. Hamilton is really gone."
Freddy whipped around to stare at him. His eyes were wide with disbelief. "No. That's impossible. She's not dead!"
Then, as if muttering to himself, he said, "Right, that's how it should be. She is alive and well in this life. How could Hazel be dead again?"
Even the wind by the cliffside felt bleak and desolate.
Freddy suddenly remembered the way Hazel had died in their past life.
He had knelt in the church for seven days straight. Each candle he lit was a desperate plea for her to come back to life.
Back then, he had wondered if this was his punishment for seducing and hurting his own sister.
He swore that if she came back, he'd never cross that line again. But
