It was James Blackwell, the Zachman family's butler, who finally spoke up, "Ms. Salford's belongings were all taken by Mrs. Zachman. She said Ms. Salford was going to stay somewhere else for a while. We didn't dare ask any more questions."
James paused, as if remembering something. He pointed toward the small room next to Clara's old space. "The rest of Ms. Salford's things are in that storage room. Would you like to take a look?"
A flicker of hope crossed Wren's face. He immediately asked James for the key and quickly unlocked the door to the storage room.
The next moment, he froze in place.
Without needing to look closely, Wren immediately recognized the piles of items in the room. They were gifts he had given Clara over the years.
From clothes and bags to jewelry, everything he had given her was still here. She hadn't taken a single thing.
She had only taken her own belongings, leaving all of his gifts behind.
