The words hit Amelia like a physical blow. She took a step back, her eyes wide with hurt and anger. "I see," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "Well, if that's how you feel, perhaps you should have hired a robot instead of a chef. Someone who won't have the audacity to think for themselves."
With that, she turned on her heel and stormed out of the kitchen, leaving a stunned silence in her wake.
Amelia found herself in the mansion's expansive gardens, the winter chill biting through her thin chef's whites. She paced furiously, her mind a whirlwind of anger, hurt, and confusion.
How had things gone so wrong? She had poured her heart and soul into this job, sacrificing everything – including her beloved bakery – for the opportunity to work in this prestigious household. And now, it seemed like everyone was turning against her.
