Chapter 3 I Agree To Divorce

Clearly, I knew that I could never make him stay, yet I had to try something else. Therefore, I stared at him and explained, “I agree to the divorce but on one condition. You must stay here with me tonight, and you’ll attend your grandfather’s funeral. I’ll sign the papers after the funeral is over.” Curtis narrowed his dark eyes that seemed to be mocking and laughing at me sarcastically. His lips moved a little while he removed his hand. After that, he squinted his eyes as he whispered into my ears, “You need to be capable of doing things, Julia. Not just by using your mouth.” His tone was husky as it mixed with a dash of unclear and deep intentions. I understood what Curtis meant, so I lifted my hands to hug his waist, and then I raised my head to kiss his lips. However, there was a big difference between our heights, and therefore, such gestures made me feel dumb and weird. I did not know much about love, and I did not know how to describe the feelings in my heart. It was just…pitiful to make a man stay in such a way. I looked up and met with his dark eyes that were looming with ambiguous intent. “That’s it!” Startled by his harsh words as I did not know what Curtis meant. Later, I saw him put on the gray pajamas on his body elegantly. I was traumatized for a moment which I could only react to after some time. Was he… going to stay here? Before I could feel happy about it, there came a woman’s voice from outside with the sound of the rain. “Curtis…” I was stunned, and I could not react as fast as Curtis. I saw him walk toward the balcony before heading out of the bedroom with a dull expression and a coat. Outside the balcony, Anna was standing in the rain with a thin strap dress, letting the rain hit on her recklessly. The beautiful lady who was physically weak appeared even pitiful in the rain. Curtis covered Anna with the coat he brought along with him. She then threw herself into his arms and cried before he could even scold her. Suddenly, I seemed to realize something after that scene came across my eyes. Why did I still lose to a phone call from Anna even after being with Curtis for 2 years? Curtis brought her into the villa and up to the bedroom. I stood at the stairwell, blocking their way. I stared at both of them, who got completely drenched by the rain. “Move!” Curtis shouted with a frigid and ruthless tone as he gazed disgustingly at me with his dark eyes. Was I upset? I was not sure about it. However, my eyes hurt more than my heart. I saw how the one that I loved cared for another woman but violated me. “Curtis, when we married, you’ve promised your grandfather that you wouldn’t bring Anna into our villa as long as I’m still here.” This villa was the only place that I lived together with Curtis. I had already let him accompany Anna for so many nights. In the end, why did he still want to taint the only territory that belonged to me? “Ha!” Curtis sneered all of a sudden, and he dragged me away while saying coldly, “Julia, you overestimated yourself.” What a harsh sentence. I saw Curtis bring Anna to the guest room, and eventually, I could only watch him do so like an outsider. That night was destined to be unpleasant. Anna was soaked in the rain, and for her being physically weak, she had a fever because of the rain. Curtis took care of her as he helped her change her clothes, and he even used a hot towel to warm her. Curtis probably felt that I was an eyesore, so he uttered after staring at me indifferently, “You’ll return to the Blake residence now! I can’t go back tonight with Anna like this.” He wanted me to go back to the Blake residence at this time? Haha… Actually, I really was an eyesore to him. After looking at Curtis for quite some time, I did not know what to say to remind him that the mansion was extremely far away from here. It was late and unsafe for a woman like me to leave. Nevertheless, he could not care much regarding all those matters. All Curtis cared about was me disturbing Anna. Finally, I replied to him calmly after suppressing the anguish in my heart, “I’ll be returning to the bedroom. It’s not suitable for me…to go back now!” After all, I should not sabotage myself even if Curtis did not love me. Thus, I turned around and left the guest room. Later, I met with Edward in the corridor, who was rushing here. I saw his slender body was still in his black pajamas. Maybe he was in a rush as he did not even change his shoes, and his shirt was soaked as well.
