"Maybe he panicked during his escape and ended up wandering into the forest's interior," Alistair muttered, frowning. "If that's the case, things could get complicated. The heart of Beast Mountain Range is crawling with terrifying creatures. If he runs into one, we might not find anything left—not even his corpse, let alone the treasure."
He sighed and waved a hand dismissively. "It's late. Even if Andrew's alive, he won't show up tonight. Let's get some rest. We'll pick up the search at first light."
At his command, a dozen or so cultivators settled around their campfires. They sat silently, closing their eyes to rest and recover their energy after an exhausting day.
The quiet night didn't last long.
